The Detroit Lions wasted no time replacing their defensive line coach after Terrell Williams left for the Patriots. And they landed a big name: Kacy Rodgers.
Rodgers isn’t just some random hire—he’s a seasoned coach with years of experience working with Todd Bowles, first with the Jets and most recently with the Buccaneers. Bowles, who knows him better than anyone, had nothing but praise for Rodgers during the NFL Combine.
“They’re getting a heck of a coach,” Bowles said. “He understands football inside and out… He’s like a brother to me.”
Lions head coach Dan Campbell is just as excited. He called Rodgers and Williams the two best D-line coaches in the league, so even though losing Williams stings, he believes Detroit landed the next best thing.
Rodgers brings an impressive resume—his Bucs teams consistently ranked top-10 in sacks and run defense. He’s worked with big-time players like DeMarcus Ware, Cameron Wake, and Vita Vea, and now he’s set to take charge of a Lions defensive front led by Aidan Hutchinson.
“I think Hutch and those guys are going to really like him and gravitate to him,” Campbell said.
