Trench Warriors: 3 Must-See O-Line Prospects for the Cowboys in Round 1

The Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line in 2024 was a mess. Both Tyler Guyton and Terence Steele struggled, especially in pass protection, and even Zack Martin didn’t play up to his usual level before injuries forced him onto the sidelines.

Looking ahead to 2025, fixing this unit should be a big priority. The team needs better play from its tackles, and with Martin hitting free agency and possibly thinking about retirement, they may need to replace him too.

With that in mind, here are three versatile offensive linemen the Cowboys could target in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, either with the 12th pick or by trading down. To get a better idea of their draft stock, we’ll include some analysis from Pro Football Network’s Dalton Miller.

Armand Membou (Missouri)

Membou might just be the best offensive lineman in this draft. He reminds some people of Tyler Smith from a few years ago—young (just 20 years old), nasty in the trenches, and extremely versatile. He can play both right guard and tackle at a high level, making him a potential replacement for Zack Martin at RG or even Terence Steele at RT if the team wants to go in that direction.

Membou has plenty of experience against top-tier pass rushers and handled himself well. While some scouts see him moving inside to guard, others believe he has the length and athleticism to stay at tackle. Either way, he’d be a great addition to the Cowboys’ line.

Kelvin Banks Jr. (Texas)

There’s some debate over Banks’ best NFL position. Some see him as a starting left tackle, while others think he’d be better inside at guard. That kind of versatility makes him an appealing option for Dallas, given their O-line needs.

Banks has the size, length, and skill set to play either position at a high level. If the Cowboys draft him, he could follow a similar path to Zack Martin, who transitioned from college left tackle to NFL right guard. If that works out, Banks could be a long-term fixture on Dallas’ offensive line.

Marcus Mbow (Purdue)

If you’re looking for versatility, Mbow might be the most intriguing lineman in this draft. He’s played both right guard and right tackle at Purdue and could slot into either spot in the NFL. Some scouts even believe he could be the best center prospect in this class.

Mbow’s ability to play three different positions (C, G, RT) would give the Cowboys plenty of flexibility in building their best starting five. Whether he’s snapping the ball, blocking inside, or holding down the edge, he could be a valuable piece for Dallas.

Final Thoughts

The Cowboys need help on the offensive line, and these three prospects could all be solid first-round options. Whether they go for a tackle, guard, or someone with the flexibility to move around, upgrading the line should be a top priority heading into 2025.
