Former President Donald Trump isn’t happy with federal judges blocking his policies, and he’s making it known loudly. On social media, he slammed “radical left judges” for issuing nationwide injunctions, saying their rulings could “lead to the destruction of our Country.” He even called on the U.S. Supreme Court to limit their power.
But while Trump is venting online, California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa is actually doing something about it. Last month, Issa introduced the No Rogue Rulings Act (NORRA), a bill aimed at restricting federal judges from issuing nationwide injunctions. Essentially, it would prevent them from making rulings that impact people beyond their own districts.
Issa’s bill is picking up steam among Republicans, and Trump himself is on board. The former president is eager to push his agenda, especially on immigration, despite court challenges. Speaking from the Oval Office on Friday, he doubled down, saying, “You can’t stop that with a judge sitting behind a bench who has no idea what’s going on, who happens to be a radical left lunatic.”
With Republicans controlling the White House, Senate, and House, Issa’s bill is part of a broader effort to rein in the judiciary a branch that continues to be a major roadblock to Trump’s plans.
