U.S. Intel: Kim Jong Un Has Zero Interest in Nuclear Negotiations

North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, isn’t backing down on nuclear weapons—he’s doubling down, according to a new U.S. intelligence report. The latest assessment says Kim has no plans to negotiate away his nuclear arsenal because he sees it as essential for keeping his grip on power and deterring the U.S. and its allies.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard warned that North Korea could be ready to conduct another nuclear test at a moment’s notice. The report also highlights Pyongyang’s growing ties with Russia, which is supporting North Korea’s nuclear ambitions in exchange for military and diplomatic backing in its war against Ukraine. This partnership is helping Kim rely less on China while boosting his strategic position.

The report suggests Kim might also push boundaries by challenging the Northern Limit Line, a disputed maritime border with South Korea, increasing tensions in the region. Additionally, concerns are growing over cooperation between North Korea, China, Russia, and Iran, as they work together in ways that could undermine U.S. influence.

With North Korea ramping up missile tests, expanding uranium enrichment, and even developing a nuclear-powered submarine, it’s clear that denuclearization isn’t on Kim’s agenda anytime soon.
