U.S. Slaps Tariffs on… Penguins? Seriously.
In a wild turn of events following Donald Trump’s sweeping new tariffs on basically the whole world, it looks like a bunch of penguins just got caught in the crossfire.
Trump’s goal with the new tariffs is to revive American industry, but in the process, literally every country and territory even the ones with zero people got hit. One of those places? The Heard and McDonald Islands, a remote spot near Antarctica that’s home to thousands of penguins… and not a single human.
Now, nobody really knows what kind of trade the U.S. is supposedly doing with this frozen penguin paradise, but somehow, there’s an official trade deficit on record. Maybe it has something to do with fishing or research, but still no one on those islands is running a business.
So yeah, America is officially taxing an island populated entirely by penguins. And unless these birds start exporting goods soon, that tariff isn’t going anywhere.
