Unexpected QB Prospect Draws Interest from Browns, Giants Before Draft

Browns, Giants Eyeing Unexpected SEC QB Ahead of Draft

With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, both the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants are in the market for a quarterback. The Browns hold the No. 2 pick, while the Giants pick at No. 3. But with Miami QB Cam Ward likely off the board   especially after the Tennessee Titans (who own the No. 1 pick) scheduled a private workout with him   both teams may have to look elsewhere.

One option? Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. But another name is also gaining traction: Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Browns and Giants have spent a “significant amount of time” evaluating Dart ahead of his pro day. Meanwhile, Cleveland is also showing strong interest in Sanders, planning to host a private workout with him.

Both teams have question marks at QB. The Giants recently signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, but neither put up big numbers in 2024. The Browns, on the other hand, are dealing with Deshaun Watson’s second Achilles injury, which could sideline him for most of the season. They also acquired Kenny Pickett in a trade, but he has yet to prove himself as a consistent starter.

Dart, who threw for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2024, is currently ranked as the No. 3 QB in this year’s draft behind Sanders and Ward. Whether he becomes a first-round target for Cleveland or New York remains to be seen, but both teams are clearly keeping their options open.
