Veteran DE DeMarcus Walker Explores Opportunities with Detroit and New York

Veteran Pass Rusher DeMarcus Walker Visits Giants and Lions Amid Free Agency Push

DeMarcus Walker’s free agency tour is picking up steam, with recent visits to both the New York Giants and Detroit Lions. The 30-year-old pass rusher, who was released by the Bears in February to save cap space, has emerged as a solid veteran option for teams looking to bolster their defensive front.

Walker is coming off back-to-back seasons as a starter in Chicago, where he totaled seven sacks and a career-high 47 tackles over that span. His most productive year came in 2022 with the Titans under then-defensive coordinator Shane Bowen — now in the same role with the Giants. A reunion in New York could make sense, even with Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux leading the edge room.

In Detroit, Walker would likely be in a rotational role behind Aidan Hutchinson, Josh Paschal, and Al-Quadin Muhammad. The Lions are still in contact with Za’Darius Smith about a return, but Walker’s experience and versatility could offer valuable depth on a unit that struggled with injuries last season.
