Wahlberg Predicts Big Year for Lions, Says He’d Play Dan Campbell in a Movie

After the Detroit Lions’ gut-wrenching playoff loss to the Washington Commanders earlier this year, the heartbreak still lingers for fans across the Motor City. The team, despite being favored, was rocked by injuries on defense and couldn’t contain rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, ending what many believed was a Super Bowl-worthy season.

But Lions fans aren’t the only ones still thinking about what could’ve been—Hollywood star and die-hard Lions supporter Mark Wahlberg has his sights set on redemption for 2025.

In a recent chat with Detroit sports reporter Brad Galli, Wahlberg didn’t hold back on his faith in the team. “They’re definitely going to win the division,” he said confidently, reflecting on last year’s emotional rollercoaster and the Lions’ electric regular-season run. Wahlberg shared that he saw fans in tears after the loss to Washington and said he’s pulling for them to go all the way this time.

Wahlberg, who planted roots in Detroit during the filming of Transformers, said the city now feels like a second home. “Wish I had more time to spend here and wish I was making another movie here,” he admitted.

And if a movie ever gets made about this gritty Lions team? Wahlberg says he’s ready to suit up and play head coach Dan Campbell—height difference and all.

With expectations sky-high and a growing list of A-list supporters, the Lions are charging into 2025 with a chip on their shoulder and a fanbase, celebrity or not, fully behind them.
