We Thought We Were Ruined’: TeSlaa Recalls Epic Lions Prank

Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa was on the receiving end of one of the most talked-about locker room pranks of the 2026 offseason courtesy of star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown, giving fans a hilarious glimpse into team culture off the field.

TeSlaa, who finished his first NFL season with 239 receiving yards and six touchdowns, had already shown flashes of potential in Detroit’s offense. But his intensity and seriousness were tested in a very different way during a wide receiver group dinner at a high-end Detroit steakhouse.

The prank unfolded when St. Brown orchestrated a dinner tab trick that left TeSlaa and fellow young receivers, Dominic Lovett and Jackson Meeks, staring down what appeared to be a $41,000 bill. TeSlaa recalled how he, Lovett and Meeks looked at each other in disbelief, contemplating whether they would really need to explain this massive charge to their credit card companies.
“It says $41,000,” TeSlaa said. “And me, Dom, and Meeks are looking around at each other like, ‘How are we going to cover this?’”
The prank played off the traditional NFL rookie dinner — where newcomers are often expected to cover the check for veterans — but St. Brown took it to another level by insisting on the most expensive items on the menu and intentionally misleading the rookies about the total cost.
The tension broke when the real check was presented: roughly $4,000, a far cry from the six-figure total that had TeSlaa and his companions sweating moments earlier.  What remained was laughter, camaraderie, and a story that has quickly circulated among Lions fans and NFL followers alike.

This prank not only underscores St. Brown’s leadership and confidence within the Lions’ receiver room, but also highlights how rookies like TeSlaa are being welcomed into the culture of the team — sometimes with good-natured tricks that turn into unforgettable memories.
As Detroit refocuses on the offseason and prepares for the 2026 campaign, moments like this provide a reminder that, beyond the Xs and Os, tight-knit relationships and locker room chemistry can be just as impactful for team morale and unity.
