Week 15 Injury Update: McVay Confident in Davante Adams as Lions Lose Key Defensive Pieces

Sunday’s Week 15 showdown between the Rams and Lions at SoFi Stadium is already shaping up to be must-watch football — and the injury report adds even more intrigue.

While both teams are dealing with bumps and bruises this late in the season, the biggest headline revolves around one familiar name: Davante Adams.

Davante Adams Questionable, Confidence Still High

On paper, Adams is listed as questionable due to a hamstring issue. In reality, Rams head coach Sean McVay doesn’t sound like a man losing sleep over it.

“We’ll be very surprised if he wasn’t ready to roll, and that’s what his mindset and mentality has been all week,” McVay said ahead of Friday’s practice.

That quote alone tells you everything. Adams was limited on Friday after missing practice earlier in the week, but all signs point toward him being on the field Sunday afternoon. For a Rams offense gearing up for a pivotal game, that’s massive.

Good News Continues: Tutu Atwell Set to Return

It’s not just Adams bringing optimism to the Rams’ sideline. Tutu Atwell, who has been working his way back from Injured Reserve, is expected to be active as well.

Atwell logged full participation throughout the week, clearing the path for his return. His speed adds another layer to the Rams’ offense — and another headache for Detroit’s defense.

Lions Dealing With Serious Defensive Setbacks

On the other side, Detroit isn’t as fortunate.

The Lions have officially ruled out Brian Branch (Achilles), a tough loss for their secondary. Even more concerning, safety Kerby Joseph is also out after suffering a setback with his knee injury, according to head coach Dan Campbell.

That’s two key defensive backs unavailable against an offense that could feature a healthy Adams, Atwell, and a motivated Rams unit at home.

More Lions Injury Concerns to Monitor

Detroit’s injury list doesn’t stop there. Taylor Decker, the starting left tackle, is among seven Lions players listed as questionable. Several others were limited throughout the week, including Kalif Raymond, Alex Anzalone (who did return to full participation), and multiple depth pieces.

In a game where margins will be thin, availability — especially in the trenches and secondary — could be the deciding factor.

What It All Means for Sunday

If Adams suits up as expected and the Lions remain shorthanded on defense, the Rams could have a real opportunity to dictate the tempo early. Detroit still brings toughness and resilience, but missing core defensive contributors makes an already difficult road matchup even tougher.

Kickoff is set for 1:25 p.m. PT at SoFi Stadium, and the injury report suggests momentum may already be tilting slightly toward Los Angeles.
