What’s Next for the Dolphins? Top Positions Still Needing Help Before 2025 Season

The Miami Dolphins came out of the 2025 NFL Draft having patched up some key holes — especially in the trenches — but it’s clear the roster still has some shaky spots.

The biggest concern? Cornerback. Despite years of heavy spending at the position, GM Chris Grier now faces a secondary full of question marks. Xavien Howard is gone (though his $15.7 million dead cap hit lingers), Byron Jones was a major miss, and Jalen Ramsey seems ready to leave as soon as the Dolphins can find a trade partner — even after all the money they shelled out to keep him happy. That leaves former second-rounder Cam Smith, but how confident can the team really be that he’s ready to step up as a starter?

Beyond corner, defensive tackle depth behind Zack Sieler still looks thin, and on offense, the line could definitely use some reinforcements. Tight end was another draft-day miss, though there’s hope that undrafted rookie Jalin Conyers could turn into a hidden gem alongside Jonnu Smith.

Other spots like wide receiver and inside linebacker were also expected to get attention. Even though the Tyreek Hill trade rumors have cooled, his long-term future remains uncertain, and Miami may need to go hunting for his successor as soon as next year’s draft. As for linebacker, the constant churn at the position has left them without a young core to build on.

So, the big Phinsider Question of the Day is:
Which positions do you want Chris Grier to address before training camp — through free agents, trades, or other moves?
