When it was crunch time on Saturday, Alabama coaches Rob Vaughn and Jason Jackson handed the ball to Tyler Fay—and he delivered.

Fay has a unique approach on the mound. Instead of going for flashy strikeouts, he prefers to let batters put the ball in play. His signature sinker helps him force ground balls, which often turn into double plays and quick innings. That style also helps keep his pitch count low, giving him more time on the mound.

He really stepped up during the final stretch of the 2025 season, facing a tough lineup of SEC teams. His biggest challenge came in the Hattiesburg Regional, where he went toe-to-toe with JB Middleton—a Golden Spikes semifinalist and one of the top pitchers in the country.

College baseball rotations often change as the season goes on, and Fay is a perfect example of that. But with how he finished 2025, he’s definitely made a strong case to be in Alabama’s weekend rotation in 2026.
