Lions Turn to Veteran Backup for Divisional Round vs. Commanders
The Detroit Lions have elevated veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to serve as the backup to Jared Goff for tonight’s NFC Divisional Round game against the Washington Commanders. Hendon Hooker will remain inactive as the emergency third quarterback.
Bridgewater, who retired in 2023 to coach high school football at Miami Northwestern, returned to the NFL in December. After leading his alma mater to a state championship, Bridgewater joined the Lions’ quarterback room for his experience, making him a key addition for the playoffs. Over his career, Bridgewater has 65 starts with a 33-32 record, 75 touchdowns, and 47 interceptions.
