Why Josh Reynolds Signed With the Jets? His Answer’s Got Fans Hyped”

Josh Reynolds Says Joining the Jets Was All About the Coach

Josh Reynolds had options this offseason, but when it came down to picking a team, the wide receiver says it wasn’t about the money   it was about the coach.

Reynolds recently signed a one-year deal with the New York Jets, and while the contract could earn him up to $5 million with incentives, that wasn’t what sealed the deal. In a chat with the team’s reporter, he made it clear: he signed with the Jets because of head coach Aaron Glenn.

“The biggest reason was Coach Glenn,” Reynolds said. “I’ve always been a fan of his, from our time in Detroit. The way he carried himself, how he ran the defense  he just brings something special. I wanted to be part of that.”

Reynolds spent three seasons with Glenn in Detroit, so he’s seen firsthand what Glenn can do. Under Glenn and head coach Dan Campbell, the Lions turned things around in a big way   going from a struggling team in 2021 to 12 wins just a couple years later. Reynolds believes Glenn can bring that same kind of spark to New York.

It also doesn’t hurt that Reynolds is familiar with the Jets’ new offensive coordinator, Tanner Engstrand, from his time in Detroit. Between 2022 and 2023, Reynolds put up some solid numbers   78 catches, over 1,000 yards, and eight touchdowns.

Things didn’t go as planned in 2024. Reynolds signed with the Broncos, but a hand injury landed him on IR, and shortly after that, he was involved in a shooting. Denver cut him, and he finished the year with the Jaguars, playing just nine games and putting up modest stats.

Now 30, Reynolds is hoping a reunion with Glenn can help him get back on track. And the Jets are betting that his experience and familiarity with the coach’s system can bring some stability and leadership to their young receiver group.
