Why the Lions Picked IOL Tyler Booker in OnSI’s Latest Mock Draft

Lions Select Alabama Guard Tyler Booker in Latest Mock Draft

The Detroit Lions have long built their offensive line through the draft, and in the latest OnSI mock draft, they continued that trend by selecting Alabama’s Tyler Booker with the 28th overall pick.

With veteran Kevin Zeitler departing for the Tennessee Titans and age creeping up on starters like Taylor Decker, Frank Ragnow, and Graham Glasgow, Detroit is looking for fresh talent to solidify the interior line. Booker, known for his dominant run-blocking, would compete with Glasgow and Christian Mahogany for a starting role, ensuring the Lions’ offensive front remains among the NFL’s best.

Other potential targets, including North Dakota State’s Grey Zabel, went just before Detroit’s pick, while EDGE rushers James Pearce (Tennessee) and Nic Scourton (Texas A&M) were also considered. However, with Booker’s ability to contribute immediately, the Lions opted to bolster their offensive line for the future.
