There’s a fresh wave of optimism sweeping through Chicago as the Bears gear up for the 2025 NFL season — and it’s not just because Caleb Williams is in town. Wide receiver D.J. Moore is getting some major love from the experts at Pro Football Focus, who just ranked him among the top 20 wideouts in the league.
According to PFF’s Trevor Sikkema, Moore comes in at No. 20 on the list of the NFL’s best receivers heading into the new season. It’s a well-earned nod for a guy who quietly had an outstanding first year in Chicago despite all the chaos around him. He finished 2024 with an impressive 89.5 receiving grade, even as the Bears’ offense struggled to find its rhythm.
Now with Ben Johnson calling the shots — the same mastermind who helped transform Jared Goff in Detroit — Moore could be in line for an even bigger year. He’s already ranked 11th in WAR (wins above replacement) among wide receivers since 2011, and Johnson’s scheme could help unlock even more from the 26-year-old playmaker.
Meanwhile, over at Bleacher Report, the Bears were flagged as still needing help on the edge — a key defensive position that remains thin. Analyst Alex Ballentine also pointed out tight end Cole Kmet as the team’s most valuable trade chip, but with how aggressive the Bears were early in free agency, don’t be surprised if more moves are coming.
The buzz in Chicago is real. If Ben Johnson works his magic and D.J. Moore keeps trending up, the Bears could be a serious threat a lot sooner than people think.
