El Grande Americano’s WWE Debut Gets Big Backstage Buzz
El Grande Americano’s first match in WWE has people talking both in a good way and a not-so-good way.
On this week’s episode of Raw, Americano stepped into the ring against Dragon Lee, and while the match itself was part of a pretty over-the-top storyline, it was a hit behind the scenes. Reports say WWE officials were impressed with both Americano (who many believe is Chad Gable under the mask) and Dragon Lee. Fans in the arena were also loving it.
The match ended in a controversial way when Americano pulled off Dragon Lee’s mask to get the win. That move, however, didn’t sit well with some fans in Mexico, where lucha libre traditions hold a wrestler’s mask in high regard.
For those who missed it, WWE aired a dramatic backstory for El Grande Americano, presenting him as a legendary luchador who was supposedly blackballed from wrestling before making his way to WWE. Now, with WrestleMania 41 coming up soon, it looks like Americano will have a big role possibly continuing his feud with the LWO.
Love him or hate him, El Grande Americano is making waves in WWE, and it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon.
