Will We See Sting at the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame?
With Lex Luger set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next month, we might just see Sting make another WWE appearance.
According to Fightful Select, not only is Sting Lex’s “preferred choice” for the induction, but WWE seems eager for him to take on that role too. There are even reports that WWE may have already reached out to him about it.
When it was first announced that Lex Luger would be joining the Hall of Fame, fans started throwing out ideas for who could induct him, with names like DDP, Cody Rhodes, and Ric Flair getting mentioned. But the clear fan favorite? Sting.
Though Sting wrapped up his in-ring career with AEW in an epic tag match with Darby Allin at AEW Revolution 2024, he’s still under contract with AEW. It’s not clear if AEW would need to approve his appearance at WWE’s Hall of Fame ceremony, and Sting himself has hinted that he “probably” wouldn’t be able to do it due to his AEW deal. However, the 66-year-old Hall of Famer was supposed to be in Las Vegas during WrestleMania Weekend for a limited schedule, but it looks like that stay has been extended.
Sting and Lex Luger: A Long History Together
When you think of Sting, Ric Flair probably comes to mind, but Lex Luger was a huge part of his career too. They first went head-to-head in 1987 when Luger defended the NWA United States Title against Sting in Mid-Atlantic. Over the next 15 years, they became both close friends and bitter rivals, even teaming up in the Four Horsemen and the nWo Wolfpac.
Sting defeated Luger at SuperBrawl 1992 to win his first WCW World Heavyweight Championship, and they had a successful run as WCW Tag Team Champions in 1996. The two had a lot of history, including winning the Crockett Cup in 1988. Their last match together was in 2003 at TNA, where Sting and AJ Styles beat Luger and Jeff Jarrett.
Beyond wrestling, they’ve been lifelong friends, with Luger often crediting Sting for helping him get his life back on track.
So, it only makes sense for Sting to induct Luger into the WWE Hall of Fame. Whether it actually happens, though, is still up in the air.
The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Friday, April 18. So far, Triple H and Michelle McCool are confirmed, with rumors suggesting the Natural Disasters could also be included.
