Yankees announcer Michael Kay had some words for Mets star Juan Soto after Soto said he misses having Aaron Judge batting behind him in the lineup. According to Soto, it was easier last year with Judge around because pitchers went at him more aggressively—less walking, more pitches to hit.

But Kay wasn’t having it. On his radio show, he basically told Soto to stop pining for the Yankees and appreciate where he is now. “You chose the Mets,” Kay said, “so don’t act like you’re heartbroken over leaving the Yankees.” He also called it a bit of a diss to Pete Alonso, who’s been crushing it this season while batting behind Soto.

Soto signed a massive 15-year, $765 million deal with the Mets over the offseason, and while he’s doing alright (.250 average, 3 home runs), he hasn’t had a breakout moment yet. Alonso, on the other hand, is off to a great start with 5 homers and a .356 average.

Kay even suggested Mets owner Steve Cohen might call Soto and tell him to zip it—after all, they made him one of the richest players ever and threw in some crazy perks like a luxury suite, premium tickets, and hotel upgrades.

Long story short: Kay’s advice to Soto? “Pipe down. You made your choice. Don’t make it look like you already regret it.”
