Yordan Alvarez will miss Tuesday’s Astros game against the Washington Nationals due to a sore thumb. The injury happened during batting practice on Sunday while Alvarez was playing against the Mets. Thankfully, it’s not a major issue, and manager Joe Espada expects Alvarez to be back in the outfield by Wednesday.

Chas McCormick will step in for Alvarez on Tuesday, but the good news is the injury won’t keep him out long. The star outfielder should be good to go for Opening Day on March 27 when the Astros take on the Mets. Alvarez has been a key player for the Astros, with an impressive 2024 season, hitting 35 homers and 86 RBIs, and they’ll be counting on him for another strong year.
