With rookie minicamps kicking off on Friday, four NFL teams have announced their undrafted free agent signings — and six of those players have ties to Alabama schools.
Here’s a quick rundown of the Alabama-connected rookies:
Ja’Corey Brooks, a wide receiver who spent the past three seasons at Alabama before transferring to Louisville, signed with the Washington Commanders.
Kobe Hudson, a wideout who played for Auburn in 2020 and 2021 before moving to UCF, signed with the Carolina Panthers.
Ale Kaho, a linebacker who played at Alabama from 2018 to 2020 before finishing up at UCLA, also signed with Washington.
Isaiah Raikes, a defensive tackle from Auburn, is heading to the Tennessee Titans.
Jereme Robinson, a defensive end out of Kansas and a Carver High School (Montgomery) alum, signed with the Chicago Bears.
Jerrin Thompson, a safety from Auburn, also joined the Titans.
Meanwhile, a couple of players with Alabama ties were cut this week:
The Miami Dolphins waived defensive tackle Neil Farrell after drafting Michigan DT Kenneth Grant in the first round. Farrell, a Murphy High School grad and 2022 fourth-round pick out of LSU, played for three different teams in three seasons — the Raiders, Chiefs, and most recently the Dolphins, where he suited up for seven games in 2024.
The Carolina Panthers released tight end Jordan Matthews after drafting Texas TE Ja’Tavion Sanders. Matthews, a Madison Academy alum and second-round pick from Vanderbilt in 2014, played four games for Carolina last season. Early in his NFL career, he made a splash with the Eagles, catching 225 passes for 2,673 yards and 19 touchdowns in his first three seasons.
