The Detroit Lions are gearing up to build one of the NFL’s top defenses as the offseason rolls on. They’ve already made a few solid moves, bringing back guys like linebacker Derrick Barnes and defensive ends Al-Quadin Muhammad and Marcus Davenport.
But on Friday night, it wasn’t moves on the field getting attention it was former Lions defensive end Za’Darius Smith showing up courtside at the Pistons vs. Bucks game in downtown Detroit. Smith wasn’t alone either he was spotted with Detroit rapper Kash Doll, and naturally, it sparked a ton of buzz from fans.
People were quick to speculate what this appearance could mean for Smith’s future in Detroit. “He’s re-signing,” one fan posted. “Bring our boy home!” said another. The internet lit up with hope that Smith might make a return to the Lions.
The two have been seen together a few times recently including a trip to Ghana, which Smith reportedly called a “life-changing experience.” It’s also worth noting Kash Doll reportedly split with her longtime partner Tracey T, with whom she shares two kids.
While there’s no official word yet on Smith’s NFL plans, fans are definitely watching closely.
