Ocasio-Cortez Dismisses ‘Trump Country’ Banner as 30,000 Strong Crowd Cheers”

AOC Responds to ‘Trump Country’ Banner at Rally: ‘This is Our Country’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders are continuing their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, and despite warnings that they were entering “Trump country,” the two progressives drew huge crowds in Republican strongholds.

Their tour, which promotes progressive policies and criticizes Trump’s handling of the economy and his shift toward authoritarianism, has packed arenas across the country. Recently, they spoke to 12,500 people in Ida how  a state Trump won by over 35 points in 2024.

On Tuesday, they stopped in Folsom, California, a Republican-heavy area within Rep. Kevin Kiley’s district. Before the rally, a small plane flew overhead, towing a banner reading, “Folsom Is Trump Country,” but Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t buying it.

“I heard someone flew a plane with a banner that said, ‘This is Trump country,’” she told the crowd, which responded with loud boos. “Well, it sure doesn’t look like it today. I think this is OUR country.”

With over 30,000 people showing up to the rally in Folsom, a city of just 85,000, Sanders also pointed out the overwhelming turnout in conservative areas. “We were in Idaho   Idaho!   and we had 12,000 people turn out. We had 20,000 in Salt Lake City,” he said.

He emphasized that the massive support proves Americans   Republicans, independents, and Democrats alike  are rejecting Trump’s leadership. “Too many men and women have fought and died for democracy, and we’re not letting you take us into authoritarianism,” he declared.

Next stop: Missoula, Montana, another state Trump has won in the past three elections.
