**Oklahoma Looks for Payback Against Alabama in Super Regionals**
Oklahoma’s softball team has pretty much dominated everyone over the years, but Alabama is one of the few squads that actually has a winning record against them. That’s what makes this weekend’s Super Regional matchup so interesting.
The No. 2 Sooners (48-7) will host No. 15 Alabama (40-21) in Norman for a best-of-three series starting Friday. The winner heads to the Women’s College World Series. Alabama already beat Oklahoma twice earlier this season, and historically, they’ve won 12 of the 21 games between the two programs.
Game 1 is Friday at 4 p.m. CT at Love’s Field, where OU has been nearly unbeatable (25-2). Game 2 is Saturday at 2 p.m., and if they need a Game 3, it’ll be played on Sunday. OU is the highest-ranked team left after No. 1 Texas A\&M got knocked out by Liberty last weekend.
The Sooners are riding a five-game win streak and just punched their ticket to the Super Regionals by beating Boston University and California (twice) last weekend. Alabama got here by beating Jackson State and then taking down Virginia Tech twice.
**OU Breakdown:**
* Oklahoma pulled off a huge 5-run rally in the 7th to win Game 1 of their regular-season series vs. Bama, but lost the next two.
* They’ve been hosting Super Regionals regularly and haven’t lost in this round in six straight postseasons.
* The Sooners are loaded offensively, leading the SEC in on-base percentage, slugging, and home runs (110 total).
* Freshmen have hit nearly half of those homers. Gabbie Garcia leads the team with 18.
* OU is the only team in the country to hit 100+ home runs for six seasons in a row.
**Alabama Breakdown:**
* Bama is in the Super Regionals for the 19th time—most of any team since 2005.
* Freshman Audrey Vandergriff leads the team at the plate with a .406 average.
* Seniors Kali Heivilin and Brooke Ellestad bring the power with a combined 22 homers and 92 RBIs.
* They’ve got speed too—Alabama leads the SEC in stolen bases (113 total).
* Stat-wise, their hitting is decent but not top-tier in the SEC, though their pitching has held up with a 2.93 ERA.
