**Lions Set to Spar with Dolphins in Joint Practices This Summer**
Earlier in the offseason, Dan Campbell mentioned he was working on lining up two joint practice sessions for the Lions’ training camp. Well, one of those matchups is now confirmed.
The Miami Dolphins recently announced they’ll be practicing with all three of their preseason opponents—including the Lions—before their game on Saturday, August 16 at 1 p.m. ET. Since that game’s at Ford Field, expect those joint practices to go down at the Lions’ Allen Park facility.
The Lions haven’t dropped their full training camp schedule yet, but if history’s any clue, fans might get a chance to watch—either as season-ticket holders or with general admission. That info usually comes out around late June.
The Dolphins coming to town means Detroit’s defense will get to test themselves against some top-tier talent like Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and rookie Kenneth Grant. For Coach Campbell, it’s also a bit of a homecoming—he got his coaching start in Miami, first as an intern in 2010 and later stepping in as interim head coach in 2015.
No word yet on whether the Lions will land a second joint practice opponent. Their other preseason games are against the Chargers (Hall of Fame Game), Falcons (in Atlanta), and Texans (also in Detroit). So stay tuned.
