The Detroit Lions are tweaking the roster again as they prepare for the upcoming season. On Tuesday, the team announced it had waived cornerback Divaad Wilson with an injury designation, just days after signing him. Wilson, 25, had short stints with both the Cardinals and Giants after playing his college ball at Georgia and UCF.
Why the sudden move? It coincides with Detroit officially bringing in offensive lineman Trystan Colon — a timely addition, especially with Frank Ragnow stepping away from football. Colon brings starting experience across the interior line, having logged more than 250 snaps at center, left guard, and right guard over the past few seasons with the Cardinals.
The Lions are looking to shore up their depth up front, and Colon’s versatility could be key. While Graham Glasgow is the favorite to take over at center, Colon gives Detroit insurance and experience as they head into training camp early — thanks to their appearance in this year’s Hall of Fame Game against the Chargers.
As the Lions push toward another playoff run, every roster move counts — and this one is all about reinforcing the trenches.
