The rivalry between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings just got a little more personal—thanks to Jared Goff.
While signing autographs at a Fanatics event, Goff was handed a Vikings hat. He signed it… but not before crossing out the Vikings logo with a smirk. The moment, originally shared on TikTok and reposted by The Detroit Times, instantly made waves online.
“Oh man,” Goff muttered with a grin as he defaced the hat, clearly enjoying himself. Fans quickly jumped in with reactions like, “That’s my QB,” and “Should’ve just signed ‘Daddy.’”
With Goff riding a 5-game win streak against Minnesota and holding a 7-3 record against them overall, it’s fair to say he’s earned the right to talk a little trash. Especially after the Lions knocked the Vikings out of the division race last season.
Meanwhile, the Vikings are moving forward with rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy after a surprising 14-win season under Sam Darnold. Their defense—led by blitz-happy coordinator Brian Flores—was elite in everything except stopping the pass, and Goff torched them in 2024. According to Warren Sharp, Goff had a nearly perfect 13-for-14 outing vs. Flores’ blitzes last season.
While Goff is leaning into the rivalry, his teammate Amon-Ra St. Brown offered a bit more respect. On The St. Brown Podcast, he called Flores’ defense “the craziest I’ve ever seen.”
All eyes will be on these two teams when they finally meet in Week 9—and again on Christmas Day in Week 17. If Goff keeps cooking the Vikings like he has been, don’t be surprised if he skips signing their gear next time.
