Former Lions wide receiver Allen Robinson isn’t holding back his thoughts on what could’ve been. Speaking on The Heavyweights podcast, Robinson said flat-out: if the 2024 Detroit Lions stayed healthy, they would’ve won the Super Bowl.
That’s not just confidence—it’s the kind of heartbreak that still stings.
“To me, it felt like our grip just slipped off a cliff,” Robinson said, describing how the season unraveled. “As guys kept getting hurt, it was like we were just losing control. With a healthy roster, we win it all. Simple as that.”
And honestly? He might have a point. The Lions finished 15-2, locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and had momentum like never before. But the injury bug hit hard—Frank Ragnow, Alim McNeill, Carlton Davis, and others all missed time, including key defensive pieces like Aidan Hutchinson.
GM Brad Holmes even admitted they were scraping practice squads late in the season just to fill holes.
Robinson’s not the only one who saw the potential. With a roster that deep and dominant, it really did feel like 2024 was the year. But in the playoffs, depth only gets you so far. And when you’re facing rising stars like Jayden Daniels at full speed, you need every bullet in the chamber.
In the end, Detroit’s dream run turned into a gut-punch loss to Washington—and Lions fans are left wondering what could’ve been.
