Jared Goff Trolls the Vikings — and Fans Are Living for It
The Lions-Vikings rivalry just got some extra spice, and yep — Jared Goff lit the match.
During a Fanatics autograph session, Goff was handed a Vikings hat to sign. He didn’t just scribble his name on it like a pro. Nope. He crossed out the Vikings logo before signing it. Savage.
The moment was caught on video (originally posted on TikTok and later shared by The Detroit Times), and it’s already making the rounds online. “At least he signed it, I’ll give him that lol,” one fan joked. Another chimed in, “Should’ve just signed ‘Daddy.’”
The Vikings probably aren’t laughing. Goff’s got plenty of ammo to back up the trash talk — he’s 7-3 against Minnesota in his career and has beaten them five times in a row as Detroit’s starter. Talk about owning real estate in the division.
But while Goff’s throwing shade, both squads have a lot going on. The Vikings open the 2025 season against the Bears on Monday Night Football and don’t face Detroit until Week 9 — with a Christmas Day rematch in Week 17. Mark those calendars.
Minnesota’s bringing in rookie QB J.J. McCarthy to lead the charge after a solid 14-win campaign with Sam Darnold (who’s now off to Seattle). McCarthy has a stacked squad around him, including one of the league’s nastiest defenses.
On the Lions’ side, Goff lost both of his coordinators to head coaching jobs and said goodbye to starting center Frank Ragnow, who retired. Still, they’ve got firepower — especially with wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown, who’s 6-2 against the Vikings and still found time to show love.
On his podcast, St. Brown hyped up Vikings DC Brian Flores, saying, “Bro… he runs the craziest defenses I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Flores’ aggressive blitz-heavy scheme has been hit-or-miss. The Vikings were 28th in pass defense last season, but they ranked top five in scoring and sacks — and they blitzed more than anyone in the league.
But here’s the kicker: Goff thrives under pressure. Analyst Warren Sharp dropped some brutal stats showing Goff shredded the Vikings’ blitz last year — 13-for-14 passing, over 11 yards per attempt, and the best QB in the NFL vs. the blitz. Translation? Flores better cook up something new.
Still, the Vikings are tough on third and fourth downs, and if they can fix their weak spots — like, say, the Goff problem — they could flip the script this season.
Game on.
