Lions’ Sam LaPorta Ties the Knot — George Kittle Drops In With Congrats

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta is already becoming a star on the field heading into just his third NFL season. But this offseason, he made some headlines off the field — by tying the knot.

The 24-year-old LaPorta married his longtime girlfriend Callahan Dellinger on June 14, and the couple made it Instagram official the next day, posting a sweet photo with the caption: “A house built on rock. 6/14/25.”

Naturally, the comment section was full of love and congrats — but one of the most recognizable names to drop in was 49ers star tight end George Kittle, who simply wrote: “Congrats!!”

Kittle and LaPorta go way back — both were standout tight ends at the University of Iowa, where the Hawkeyes have quietly become a tight end factory. Kittle’s been a big fan of LaPorta since the Lions drafted him 34th overall in 2023.

“I think the Lions got a complete steal,” Kittle said back then. “I trained with him. He’s got the dog in him… and he’s kind of quirky and goofy too. He’s going to fit in well.”

On the field, LaPorta’s already made a huge impact. Through two seasons, he’s hauled in 146 catches for over 1,600 yards and 17 touchdowns — pretty elite stuff for a young TE.

Now he’s entering Year 3 with a new ring on his finger — and the Lions ready to make another run. It all starts Week 1 against the Packers on September 7.
