As Sam LaPorta gears up for his third NFL season, the Detroit Lions tight end has his eyes set on continuing the momentum from a stellar start to his pro career. In just two seasons, LaPorta has made quite an impact—hauling in 146 receptions for 1,615 yards and finding the end zone 17 times across 33 regular-season games.
The former second-round pick has quickly become one of the Lions’ most reliable offensive weapons, and expectations are high as he enters the 2025 season.
But while he’s been grinding on the field, LaPorta also celebrated a major milestone off it.
Over the weekend, the 24-year-old tied the knot with his longtime partner, Callahan Dellinger. The newlyweds shared the happy news on Instagram Sunday with a heartfelt caption:
“A house built on rock. 6/14/25,” they wrote alongside photos from their special day.
Their post quickly filled with warm wishes from friends and fans alike. Among the many congratulatory messages, one stood out—San Francisco 49ers star tight end George Kittle dropped in with a simple but heartfelt, “Congrats !!”
Kittle and LaPorta share more than just a position—they’re both alumni of the Iowa Hawkeyes, where they stood out as top tight end talents.
Kittle has been a vocal supporter of LaPorta since the beginning. After Detroit drafted him 34th overall in 2023, Kittle had this to say:
“LaPorta is going to be fantastic. I think LaPorta’s the best tight end in the draft class. I think the Lions got a complete steal… He’s kind of quirky, he’s kind of goofy, too. He’s going to fit in well.”
Now, with a new season—and a new chapter in his personal life—LaPorta and the Lions will kick things off against the Green Bay Packers on September 7.
