The Detroit Lions’ receiver room is stacked heading into the 2025 season, and that depth could put rookie wideout Dominic Lovett in a tough spot. Despite tallying over 2,200 yards and 13 touchdowns in college across stints at Missouri and Georgia, the seventh-round pick is already being viewed as a roster bubble player.
According to USA Today’s Jeff Risdon, Lovett will have to fight for a spot behind established targets like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, and rookie Isaac TeSlaa. His skillset is viewed as somewhat redundant with Raymond’s — both are undersized speed threats without much versatility — which could leave the rookie on the outside looking in.
Lovett’s biggest competition includes familiar faces like Ronnie Bell and fan-favorite Tom Kennedy, as well as undrafted rookies Jakobie Keeney-James and Jackson Meeks. While Lovett is a strong candidate for the practice squad, a standout training camp could force the Lions’ hand — especially if they fear losing him on waivers.
For now, Lovett has a lot to prove in a crowded position group, but his smooth route-running and college production suggest he’s got the tools to make a push.
