As training camps approach, Thibodeaux’s future in New York looks uncertain. With Pro Bowler Brian Burns and 2025 first-rounder Abdul Carter ahead of him on the depth chart, Thibodeaux could see his playing time drastically reduced. Schatz argues the Giants should consider moving him now to recoup value.
“The Giants can trade Thibodeaux to a contender that needs help on the edge, such as the Packers or Lions, and probably get a Day 2 pick in return,” Schatz wrote for ESPN, adding that extra draft capital could help New York build around young stars like quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Thibodeaux has flashed Pro Bowl potential when healthy, posting 11.5 sacks in 2023. Last season, injuries limited him to 12 games, where he recorded 5.5 sacks, 28 tackles, and 17 quarterback hits.
For contenders like the Lions and Packers, acquiring a young, high-upside pass rusher could provide a crucial boost as they push for a Super Bowl run in 2025.
