Amon-Ra St. Brown Stirs Chiefs Rivalry, Calls Kansas City ‘Unlivable’ Ahead of Lions Showdown

Over the past two years, the Detroit Lions have transformed into one of the NFL’s most exciting teams. Their 2023 surprise run to the NFC Championship and a league-best record in 2024 have turned them into must-watch contenders with a roster full of stars.

With five nationally televised games coming up, all eyes will be on Detroit this fall — especially when they face the Kansas City Chiefs on October 12. Even though the Lions and Chiefs play in different conferences, their upcoming showdown already has some extra spice.

That’s thanks to Lions star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who took a not-so-subtle jab at Kansas City. While hosting Houston Texans wideout Jaylin Noel on his podcast, St. Brown didn’t hold back when the topic turned to living in KC.

“I’ve been to Kansas City,” St. Brown said. “I was there for the draft. Bro, I’m sorry — if you have money, I’m not living there after I get some money.”

Noel, who grew up in Kansas City, chuckled and defended his hometown but admitted there’s “more to do” in Dallas, where he’s moving with his fiancée. But St. Brown’s comments were clearly meant to ruffle some feathers.

The Lions and Chiefs could very well meet again with bigger stakes on the line. DraftKings Sportsbook currently gives both teams +800 odds to win the Super Bowl, setting up a potential championship preview. Detroit fans also fondly remember the Lions’ 21-20 upset over the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium to kick off the 2023 season, a game that signaled Detroit’s arrival as a legitimate contender.

With Kansas City likely hungry for revenge and St. Brown’s comments providing perfect bulletin board material, the October matchup promises to be one of the highlights of the 2025 NFL season.
