The 2026 NFL Draft may still be months away, but speculation is already heating up — and one Alabama standout is beginning to dominate headlines.
Crimson Tide linebacker Elijah Moore, a key force in Alabama’s defensive resurgence last season, is quickly rising on mock draft boards, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have taken notice. According to the latest projections from several draft analysts, Moore is being consistently linked to the Bucs as a potential first-round pick.
At 6’3″, 240 pounds, Moore brings a rare mix of speed, strength, and instinct to the linebacker position. He led Alabama in tackles last season with 117 total stops, along with 4.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, and a fumble recovery that sealed a dramatic win over Georgia.
> “Elijah Moore is exactly the type of player NFL teams covet—he’s physical, smart, and always around the football,” said CBS draft analyst Jonathan Harlan. “And with Tampa Bay needing to reinforce its linebacker corps, he could be a perfect match.”
The Buccaneers, who are in the midst of reshaping their defense under head coach Todd Bowles, could be looking for a long-term replacement for aging veteran Lavonte David. Moore’s play style — aggressive, disciplined, and versatile — fits well with the Bucs’ defensive identity.
In his latest mock draft, ESPN’s Matt Miller projected Moore to go 19th overall to Tampa Bay, citing his leadership and proven ability in the SEC as major selling points.
> “He’s played in big games, against elite competition, and always rises to the moment,” Miller noted. “That’s what the NFL wants — plug-and-play guys who can handle the pressure.”
Despite the buzz, Moore remains focused on finishing strong at Alabama. When asked recently about the draft attention, he kept it humble:
> “I’m grateful, but my job’s not done here,” Moore told reporters. “I came back to win a national title and to lead this team. Whatever happens after that is in God’s hands.”
Still, his stock is undeniably soaring. NFL scouts have praised his ability to drop into coverage, rush the passer, and serve as the vocal leader of a defense — all traits Tampa Bay could use as it reloads for another playoff run.
If current trends hold, Crimson Tide fans might see one of their own trading crimson for pewter and red next April.
