Detroit Tigers’ Javier Báez Reaches Historic All-Star Heights

Javier Báez has once again etched his name into baseball history books, this time as a member of the Detroit Tigers. The electrifying shortstop was officially named to the 2025 MLB All-Star roster, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career—and a historic moment for the Tigers franchise.

With this latest selection, Báez becomes the first Tigers shortstop in over three decades to earn multiple All-Star honors while playing for Detroit. The honor is his third overall but his second since donning the Old English “D,” a rare feat that places him among the elite in Tigers history.

“This means a lot—not just for me, but for my teammates, coaches, and the entire Detroit community,” Báez said in a post-game interview. “I’ve worked hard to get back to this level, and I’m proud to represent the Tigers on the national stage.”

Báez has been a cornerstone of Detroit’s resurgence this season, bringing a combination of veteran leadership, defensive brilliance, and timely hitting. Through the first half of the 2025 campaign, he’s batting .286 with 14 home runs, 47 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. His fielding remains top-tier, often landing him on highlight reels with jaw-dropping plays up the middle.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch praised Báez’s growth, calling him “the heart and soul of this team.”

“Javy’s energy is contagious. He’s playing some of the best baseball of his career, and he deserves every bit of this recognition,” Hinch said. “His leadership in the clubhouse is just as valuable as what he does on the field.”

Fans across Detroit have rallied behind Báez, whose fiery spirit and clutch performances have reignited hopes for a playoff push. His All-Star selection is a beacon of pride for a city eager to return to baseball prominence.

The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will take place on July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Báez will join a star-studded American League roster and is expected to feature prominently during the mid-summer classic.

As Báez continues to shine, one thing is clear: he’s not just playing the game—he’s building a legacy.
