He Dominated the Field – Now He’s Battling for a Second Chance

Chase Claypool Is Plotting a Comeback—and He’s Got Something to Prove

Chase Claypool’s been off the NFL radar for a minute, but don’t count him out just yet. The former Steelers wide receiver says he’s finally healthy and ready to make his return to the league.

Last we heard, Claypool was with the Buffalo Bills—until an injury derailed everything. Turns out, it wasn’t just a minor setback. He recently revealed on Instagram that he tore a ligament and a tendon in his second toe. The injury was serious enough that he would’ve missed the entire season anyway.

But now? He says he’s stronger and faster than ever.

“My first season-ending injury in 18 years came at the worst possible time,” Claypool wrote. “I was balling out in Buffalo, climbing from 14th string all the way to first-team reps. Then—boom—I go down. But I’ve been grinding every day since.”

Claypool hasn’t really found his footing since leaving Pittsburgh. After getting traded to the Bears, things didn’t click, and he was quickly shipped off to the Dolphins. Buffalo seemed like a fresh start, but the injury hit just as he was finding his groove.

Now, with rehab behind him, Claypool is on a mission to prove he still belongs in the league. It probably won’t be with the Steelers again—but a healthy, hungry version of him could absolutely get a shot somewhere. Maybe even back with the Bills.

Bottom line: Claypool’s back, he’s motivated, and he’s looking for redemption. Don’t be surprised if you see him back on the field soon—faster, stronger, and with a serious chip on his shoulder.
