From Rising Stock to Roster Risk: These Lions Have a Lot to Prove in Camp

In Pride of Detroit’s latest roster rankings (players 70 through 61), we’re getting a clear picture of who’s rising, who’s sliding, and who’s teetering on the roster bubble. These aren’t just camp bodies—many of them could be key depth pieces or surprise cuts by the time the 53-man roster is finalized.

Among the biggest fallers is defensive tackle Brodric Martin, who dropped from No. 42 all the way down to 67. Once seen as a developmental gem, his path has narrowed significantly after the Lions drafted Tyliek Williams and signed Roy Lopez. If Martin doesn’t flash in camp, he could be the first Day 2 pick cut under Brad Holmes.

Colby Sorsdal (No. 64) also slid hard. Despite starting three games in 2023, he was nearly invisible last year. He’s now behind Dan Skipper and Jamarco Jones in the pecking order.

On the flip side, safety Loren Strickland made one of the biggest leaps, jumping from 88th last year to 62nd. After surprising everyone by cracking the 53-man roster in 2024, he’s back in the thick of the safety competition and could earn a depth role once again.

Also worth noting: Zach Cunningham, a seasoned linebacker with 86 career starts, enters at No. 65. He brings experience but may have to prove he can contribute on special teams if he’s going to stick around while Malcolm Rodriguez rehabs his ACL.

At the wide receiver spot, Ronnie Bell (No. 68) is an intriguing name. A former 49ers seventh-rounder with real NFL game experience and special teams upside, he’s battling for a roster spot in a crowded WR room.

As camp draws closer, names like Chris Smith, Mitchell Agude, Myles Adams, and Kenny Yeboah are all jostling for a shot at meaningful roles—or simply to make the roster at all.

Bottom line: This chunk of the Lions’ depth chart is filled with camp battles, high stakes, and stories waiting to unfold. And with Dan Campbell at the helm, expect the unexpected when the pads go on.
