“Bag Incoming: Lions WR Is Ballin’ His Way to a Fat Payday”

Tim Patrick’s About to Cash In — If He Shows Out in 2025

The Lions’ offense has been cooking the past few years, but there’s a bit of a shakeup this season — offensive genius Ben Johnson left to coach the Bears. Still, no one’s panicking. Jared Goff is expected to keep slinging like a top-10 QB, especially if new coordinator John Morton sticks to the same winning formula.

The team’s wide receiver room is stacked — Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, rookie Isaac TeSlaa, and now… Tim Patrick, who’s quietly lining himself up for a major payday.

At 31, Patrick’s not exactly a young gun, but this might be his last real shot at a big contract. He’s on a one-year deal worth $2.5 million — but if he balls out in 2025? He could be looking at $10 million+ per year next time around.

Patrick’s been around — undrafted out of Utah, started with the Broncos, and showed legit potential before injuries threw off his momentum. His best stretch was in 2020-2021, racking up over 1,400 yards and 11 touchdowns in those two seasons.

The Lions don’t need him to be a WR1 — they’ve got St. Brown and Williams for that. What they do need is someone who can sneak through the defense while everyone else is getting double-teamed. And Patrick might be that guy.

And we haven’t even talked about tight end Sam LaPorta or running back Jahmyr Gibbs — both of whom are matchup nightmares. This offense could be nasty.

Patrick only had 33 catches, 394 yards, and 3 TDs last season, but with more time in the system, there’s real buzz around what he can do in Year 2. If he shows out, the Lions might not even be able to afford him in 2026.
