The Detroit Lions are handing over more responsibility to second-year linebacker Jack Campbell—and he’s embracing it with confidence.
Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and head coach Dan Campbell are giving the former first-round pick more leadership duties as he grows into the heart of the defense. The message is clear: it’s time for Jack Campbell to be more than just a contributor—he’s expected to help command the unit.
“We’re giving him more ownership,” Glenn said during camp. “He’s seeing the field better, understanding the flow, and communicating like a pro. We’re in lockstep.”
Campbell, who flashed promise as a rookie, is now being leaned on for his intelligence and presence on the field. Coaches say his instincts and preparation have helped him become a vocal leader—and one who can be trusted to make in-game adjustments.
As the Lions aim to level up defensively in 2025, Jack Campbell’s expanded role could be key to unlocking that next step.
