The Detroit Lions got a mixed bag of updates on Friday’s injury front, and it couldn’t come at a more crucial time. With a primetime clash against the Baltimore Ravens looming, Detroit is juggling both relief and concern.
The Good News: Campbell and Decker Return
Linebacker Jack Campbell and left tackle Taylor Decker both returned to practice after missing time earlier this week. For the Lions, that’s huge.
Campbell brings much-needed physicality to the middle of the defense, especially against Baltimore’s bruising rushing attack. On the other side of the ball, Decker’s presence at left tackle is critical for keeping Jared Goff upright against a Ravens front that loves to bring pressure.
Their return signals that Detroit should have two of their key starters ready to roll under the Monday Night Football lights.
The Bad News: Davenport Still Missing
Unfortunately, the Lions weren’t at full strength. Veteran defensive end Marcus Davenport was once again absent from practice as he continues to deal with a nagging shoulder injury.
That absence looms large. Without Davenport, the pressure falls on Aidan Hutchinson and Al-Quadin Muhammad to generate heat off the edge. And let’s be honest—when you’re facing Lamar Jackson and an offense averaging over 40 points per game, missing a pass rusher is the last thing you want.
A Tall Task Ahead
Detroit has shown grit early in 2025, but the challenge ahead is massive. The Ravens are explosive, balanced, and currently the league’s top-scoring unit. Campbell and Decker returning definitely gives the Lions a fighting chance, but Davenport’s absence could tilt the balance in a game where every stop will matter.
As Monday night approaches, Lions fans can exhale a little—just not all the way.
