Bears Fans’ Worst Fear: Trey Hendrickson in Honolulu Blue

If you’re a Chicago Bears fan, go ahead and brace yourself — because the football gods might just be plotting something cruel. Imagine looking across the line of scrimmage in Week 18 and seeing Trey Hendrickson — in Lions colors — gunning straight for your quarterback. Yeah, that’s nightmare fuel.

The Thought No Bears Fan Wants to Entertain

Sayre Bedinger of NFL Spin Zone floated a terrifying idea: the Detroit Lions could be a landing spot for Bengals pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson. And let’s be honest — it’s one of those “please no” moments for Chicago.

Hendrickson isn’t just another edge rusher. He’s a wrecking ball with cleats, logging 17.5 sacks in each of the last two seasons and already sitting at four through five games this year. He eats offensive lines alive — and the Bears’ o-line hasn’t exactly been known for keeping their QBs in one piece.

Why This Actually Makes Sense (Unfortunately)

Here’s the kicker — this move would totally make sense for Detroit.
Hendrickson turns 31 in December and hits free agency after the season. Add in some contract tension with Cincinnati, and the writing’s on the wall: he’s probably not staying in Bengal stripes for long.

For a Lions team already leading the NFC North at 4-1, adding a veteran pass-rusher like Hendrickson would be the ultimate “overkill” move. They’re good — maybe even great — and the Bears definitely don’t need them getting any better.

Bears Fans, It’s Time to Cheer for the Bengals

Weird twist of fate: Bears fans now have a reason to root for the Bengals.
If Joe Flacco and Cincinnati can win a few games and stay in the AFC North race, they’ll have no reason to trade away Hendrickson.

So yes, you heard that right — every Bears fan should be whispering a little “Go Bengals” before kickoff. Anything to keep Trey Hendrickson from landing in Honolulu Blue.

The Bigger Picture

The Bears don’t face the Lions again until the final week of the regular season. A lot can change by then — hopefully in Chicago’s favor. Ideally, that means a more confident offense, a tougher line, and zero Trey Hendrickson in the division.

Because if he does join Detroit, that Week 18 matchup might look a lot like déjà vu from Week 2 — and no Bears fan wants to relive that.
