When Keyshawn Johnson first told Jameson Williams not to “complain” about his touches, Lions fans braced for fireworks. Williams had already voiced frustration earlier in the season, feeling iced out of an offense that’s supposed to be one of the league’s most explosive. For a moment, it looked like Detroit might be brewing some unnecessary drama.
But instead of firing back, Williams did the opposite — he listened.
Once Johnson clarified his comments, explaining he knew Dan Campbell and OC John Morton would “get you the ball,” the young wideout didn’t just accept it — he embraced it. “I’m looking forward to maybe talking to him one day or chopping it up with him,” Williams said, proving that not every NFL disagreement has to turn into a headline feud.
It’s a refreshing twist from a player whose confidence has sometimes been mistaken for cockiness. Through eight games, Williams has logged 21 catches for 355 yards and 3 touchdowns — modest numbers, but he’s clearly trending upward. With Jared Goff in sharp form and Amon-Ra St. Brown drawing defensive attention, Williams could be the spark plug Detroit’s offense needs heading into Week 10.
If this exchange with Keyshawn Johnson did anything, it might’ve unlocked a more mature, motivated version of Jameson Williams — one who’s ready to prove he doesn’t just want the ball… he deserves it.
