At just 23 years old, Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs is making waves in the NFL. After scoring three touchdowns on Sunday, his career total now sits at 41, putting him within striking distance of a long-standing Lions record.

That record belongs to Hall of Famer Barry Sanders, who racked up 47 touchdowns before celebrating his 24th birthday—a mark still unmatched in NFL history for players under 24. Gibbs, who won’t turn 24 until March, has the remainder of this season to chase Sanders’ legendary milestone.

Since entering the league in 2023, Gibbs’ 41 touchdowns are already the highest of any player in the NFL. With a score on Sunday night against the Eagles, he would tie Jim Brown for the fourth-most touchdowns before turning 24. Ahead of him are Randy Moss and Emmitt Smith, each with 43. Eventually, Gibbs could find himself chasing Sanders, a name every Lions running back respects and honors.
