Giants Make Surprise QB Move — Winston’s Response Leaves Fans on Edge

The New York Giants will once again rely on veteran quarterback Jameis Winston in Week 12 as they prepare to face the Detroit Lions.

Winston grabbed attention with his remarks after the team announced he would start over Week 1 starter Russell Wilson, sparking even more buzz with follow-up comments. Up until last week, Winston had been listed as QB3, sitting on the bench.

Injuries to rookie sensation Jaxson Dart, who stepped in for Wilson after the veteran struggled early in the season, opened the door for the former No. 1 overall pick from 2015.

Winston’s first start didn’t yield a victory, as the Giants fell at home to the Green Bay Packers in Week 11. Now, they face another tough challenge against a Detroit Lions team that sits at 6-4. Despite a polarizing career, Winston’s words reflect the mindset that has helped him endure in the NFL.

Against the Packers, Winston completed 65.5% of his passes for 201 yards, threw no touchdowns, and had one interception. “I just found out” on Friday that he would be the starter against Green Bay, he said.

“It doesn’t change for me,” Winston told reporters. “I love this. I’m so grateful to wear this uniform, do my job, man. So, it don’t – nothing really changes for me. Maybe more texts to the receivers, just in terms of a communication standpoint. But outside of that, in terms of studying, it’s the same every week.”

He also joked about repeating variations of this answer during the press session and described it as “the life of an NFL quarterback,” staying ready even when unexpectedly called to play.
