Ryan Grubb Doesn’t Sugarcoat It — This Is What Alabama Must Fix to Beat Oklahoma

Alabama hasn’t forgotten what happened the last time they faced Oklahoma, and neither has offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. As the Crimson Tide prepares for another showdown with the Sooners, Grubb made it clear that revenge won’t come from trick plays or flashy schemes. It comes down to one simple, but critical, area.

According to Grubb, Alabama must be far more efficient and disciplined up front, particularly in pass protection and execution on early downs. Against Oklahoma previously, the Tide struggled to sustain drives, often putting themselves behind the chains and allowing pressure to disrupt the rhythm of the offense. That can’t happen again if Alabama wants a different outcome.

Grubb emphasized that explosive plays mean very little if the offense can’t stay on schedule. Too many missed assignments, penalties, and breakdowns allowed Oklahoma’s defense to dictate the pace. This time, Alabama wants to flip that script by controlling tempo, protecting the quarterback, and turning manageable downs into scoring opportunities.

The message from Grubb is clear: talent alone won’t beat Oklahoma. Execution will. Alabama believes it has the weapons to win, but only if the offense does the small things right — winning in the trenches, limiting mistakes, and finishing drives instead of settling.

If the Crimson Tide can clean up those issues, the rematch won’t just look different — it could end very differently.
