Airspace Alert! Rogue Plane Near Trump’s Club Gets VIP Jet Escort (Not the Fun Kind)

“Airspace incursion near Trump’s golf course: Plane violates restriction; escorted out by F-16”, with all the extra unrelated sections removed:

Fighter Jet Scrambles After Plane Flies Too Close to Trump’s Golf Club

A civilian plane caused a bit of a stir on Saturday when it flew into restricted airspace over Bedminster, New Jersey  right where former President Donald Trump was spending his Fourth of July weekend. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) quickly stepped in, sending out a fighter jet to intercept the aircraft.

NORAD confirmed the incident happened just before 2:40 p.m. ET and said the pilot was safely escorted out of the no-fly zone. They also used the moment to remind all pilots to check flight restrictions before taking off, especially temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) that pop up during high-security events.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), NORAD said, “Pilots, a reminder to check FAA NOTAMs before you fly!”

Reports say the jet used in the interception was likely an F-16, though NORAD didn’t officially confirm the type.

Interestingly, this wasn’t even the first violation of the day   it was the  fourth time that Saturday that someone wandered into restricted airspace in the area. Another violation happened later, making it five for the day.

Back in February, NORAD had to scramble three F-16s for a similar situation over Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, so this kind of thing isn’t entirely new.

The message here? If you’re a pilot flying near any of Trump’s properties during a high-alert weekend, you’d better double-check the flight rules   or you might get a surprise escort from the U.S. Air Force.
