Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff isn’t one to toss out hype for nothing—but even he can’t ignore what Aidan Hutchinson is doing on the field early in training camp.
“He looks like a monster,” Goff said, clearly impressed with the third-year edge rusher’s explosive form. “You can tell he’s put in serious work this offseason. He’s bigger, faster, and just wrecking plays.”
Hutchinson, who already came into the league with high expectations as the No. 2 overall pick in 2022, seems to have elevated his game to another level. Coaches and teammates alike have noticed how relentless and refined he looks—bringing a combination of power and quickness that’s giving offensive linemen fits in camp.
The Lions defense will be looking to build off last season’s improvements, and Hutchinson’s breakout is a big part of that equation. If what Goff is seeing holds true when the pads come on in real action, Detroit may have a true Defensive Player of the Year contender in their midst.
