The Detroit Lions have struck a deal with veteran cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, according to ESPN’s Mike Garafolo. Ya-Sin, originally a second-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2019, most recently played for the San Francisco 49ers during the 2024 season.
What Ya-Sin Brings to the Table
Ya-Sin has played in 79 NFL games, starting 39 of them. His career stats include:
- Interceptions: 2
- Tackles: 199
- Passes Defended: 31
- Forced Fumbles: 2
Why It Matters
While Ya-Sin wasn’t ranked among the top free-agent cornerbacks this offseason, he’s still just 28 and has the potential to contribute. The Lions are hoping to tap into the talent that made him a highly regarded prospect coming out of college. He adds depth to a cornerback group led by D.J. Reed and rookie Terrion Arnold.
