Lions Make a Move: Detroit Signs Former 2nd-Round Cornerback!

The Detroit Lions are making moves in free agency, adding some veteran depth to their cornerback group. According to Mike Garafolo, former 49ers cornerback Rock Ya-Sin has agreed to a deal with the Lions. Details of the contract haven’t been released yet.

Ya-Sin, a former second-round pick by the Colts in 2019, spent three seasons in Indianapolis, playing 41 games with 29 starts. Over that time, he racked up 138 tackles, 20 pass breakups, and two interceptions. Since then, he’s bounced around the league, spending time with the Raiders, Ravens, and most recently, the 49ers. In San Francisco, he played in 13 games but mostly contributed on special teams.

Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 195 pounds, Ya-Sin brings size and experience to Detroit’s young cornerback group. Back in his college days at Temple, he was known for his physical play and high character. Now, he’ll be fighting for a backup role behind presumed starters D.J. Reed and Terrion Arnold.

Detroit has seen some turnover at the position this offseason, with Carlton Davis heading to the Patriots and Kindle Vildor signing with the Buccaneers. With Ya-Sin now in the mix, the Lions continue to tweak their secondary as they gear up for the 2025 season.
